Richard W. Vieth, born Spartanburg, SC, in 1947; admitted to SC Bar 1975.

Education: Methodist College (B.A., cum laude, 1969); Washington College of Law School (American University) and University of South Carolina Law School (J.D. 1975); Instructor at Spartanburg Methodist College 1981-1982. Among cases tried in both state and federal courts include the nation's first federal arson death penalty trial. USA vs. Eric Hans in 2007. 

Served in US Navy 1969-1974 and was stationed in Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, DC as a congressional liaison as an E-5 under Admiral Zumwalt, Chief of Naval Operations. Rick lives with his wife in Taylors, SC and is a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Spartanburg. He is past President of the South Carolina Golf Association and serves as Chairman of the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation.
